LTA adds three new bus services and upgrades two more under connectivity programme

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on 20 September 2026 that it will launch three new bus services and enhance two existing ones over the coming months under its Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP). The changes focus on newer estates such as Tengah and Woodlands, where residents live further from MRT stations.

According to LTA, the programme has already delivered 37 new and extended services and improved 76 existing services since it started in July 2024. The authority says about 311,000 commuters benefit from these enhancements every day, through express links into the city, limited-stop services to MRT stations, and shorter journey times.

The first of the new services arrive on 25 October, when two services start in Tengah. One of them, Service 873/873M, will link Tengah with Bukit Gombak, Hillview and Hume MRT stations. LTA said the routes were planned with Grassroots Advisers and community leaders after a review of network coverage and ridership. Details of the remaining services are in the annex to the release.

LTA also said it will enhance two existing services in the same period. Specific changes for each service, including routes and start dates, are listed in Annex B of the release, and commuters will see updates on bus stop information panels and transport apps as each change takes effect.

Why it matters for fleet operators: BCEP expansion keeps adding bus capacity, which means more buses, more bus captains and more operating hours on the road in growing estates. Operators running private buses, worker transport or chartered services in the west and north should expect busier bus stops and bus bays along the new routes once they start. For companies that move staff by van or private bus, it is also worth checking whether the new public routes now cover some trips that currently need a dedicated vehicle.

LTA has said it will keep reviewing the network as new estates are completed, so more announcements under the programme are likely.
